Workshops

Join me in discussing the roller coaster of perimenopausal symptoms and what can be done to lessen its potential impact on our health and quality of life. My workshops are meant to:

1) Prepare women for possible, and often unexpected symptoms of the menopause transition so they can support themselves and others when they go through it. We will discuss different strategies and medical interventions for easing possible perimenopausal symptoms, as well as how to discuss them with your healthcare providers;

2) Validate experiences women may have already had or are currently having related to the menopause transition and provide a safe venue and ongoing community for discussing these experiences;

3) Provide education on how acknowledging menopause can positively affect our health and longevity. Menopause isn’t all bad!

About

After practicing primary care for over 15 years, I turned my attention to menopause education and community building when I experienced early menopause at the age of 42. I realized that if I, as a medical professional experienced in women’s health, was blindsided by my own chaotic menopausal experience, then what hope was there for most other women to be prepared for this monumental change?

My goal is to equip as many women as possible for their menopause transition by making sure they understand the biology behind it, and the impact this has on their health and quality of life. Most importantly, I want women to know what they can do to help themselves and others if they experience disruptive, exasperating, and/or diabolical symptoms during this time.

I received my BA in Biology from Brown University and my MS in Nursing from Boston College. I became certified as a Menopause Practitioner by the North American Menopause Society in 2021.  I'm also a writer and performer. You can see some of my past shinanigans at www.strindbergandhelium.com

Born and raised in Minnesota, I ended up in Oakland, California, where I currently live with my husband, two children, and occasionally-devoted dog, Phyllis.
